Bird’s Site

Hi all!

I have a couple of new cut files for you today and I hope that you like them and will enjoy using them in your projects. I like to add a ribbon edge banner to my cards but have trouble cutting a symmetrical ‘v’ out of the ends with scissors so I’ve made one of those and I’ve added one with a 3D look to it too along with a circle frame/doily pattern.

I followed this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch for the layout of my card, I chose some soft pinky brown papers from the K&Company Julianne pad and added some white card to keep the muted feel. I made some little cherry blossoms by cutting some of the 5 petaled flowers from Flowers 3, using 2 for each flower, I shaped them with an embossing stylus and added some artificial stamen to the middle. I cut 2 branches from Branches 1 and gave them some shape too then finished off the arrangement by tucking in a twine bow. I printed this sentiment for the middle of my decorative circle and finishes off with a few flat backed pearls.

Hiyah!

I have a hot air balloon cut file for you today, if you don’t have a digital cutting machine there are several digi versions here in different shapes and patterns. It occurred to me the other day that there are still some digi stamps that I haven’t yet converted to cut files so I did this hot air balloon for today’s card and I plan to get round to some more shortly.

I followed this weeks iSpy Sketch for the layout of my card today, I cut a hill shape for the lower section of the sketch then cut my hot air balloon and some clouds and a sun from this page to complete my scene. Although the ribbon cuts across the scene it was part of the sketch, I printed a sentiment then die cut with nesties and popped in an eyelet so it can be hung from the ribbon. This is one of my favourite ways to add a sentiment to a card as it is so easy to change the little tag to add a different sentiment if needed for a particular occasion.

Hey Guys :)

I’ve had a spot of the lurgy this week which is why I’ve been a bit quiet and it also meant that I had to take a break from the exercise bike for a couple of days but I still managed to lose over 5 pounds for the week so all is good!

I had trouble concentrating on anything too creative but I did have a pretty productive session taking my patterned paper scrap draw out and creating some backgrounds with them. I piled some of the co-ordinating papers together, then cut into strips and attached to some pre-cut pieces of card either horizontally or diagonally. The next day I sewed along all of the joins and ended up with some lovely background designs, it cleared some of my scraps and was very satisfying indeed. Here are the ones left over after today’s card which you’ll no doubt see popping up every now and then.

I’ve made a flourish cut files for you today, it was a request from a while back, also I have a digi sentiment for you too. I printed my sentiment in a dusky pink colour using this method to change the colour then cut with a nestability. I cut the same flourish twice, stuck together to make a symmetrical shape and placed behind one of my rolled flowers then popped onto my sentiment panel. I cut my decorative border 1 then added both the border and my sentiment panel onto one of the backgrounds shown above then finally added some seam binding ribbon and some flat backed pearls.

Hiyah!!

I’m in such a good mood at the moment, you may remember me mentioning that I had gone all ‘Biggest Loser’ on my exercise bike lately, well I’ve only gone and lost 10 kilos/22 pounds in 2 weeks. I know I won’t be able to keep losing weight at that rate and that it will slow down but I am absolutely chuffed to bits! *cue happy dance*

Anywaaaay, what freebies do I have for you today? I have my first set of butterfly cut files and some co-ordinating digi sentiments in swirly butterfly trails for you to print out. You have a choice of 2 background butterfly shapes one with antennae and one without then you have a choice of 2 patterned butterflies to layer on top as I have in today’s card. I also have digi versions of the trails complete with the butterflies for those of you without digital cutting machines and finally I have some chevron border cut files which were a request.

I followed this weeks sketch from iSpy Sketches for my card layout, I chose some quite busy (for me) patterned paper as a bit of a challenge for myself and picked 2 colours from the paper for my elements. I printed my sentiment onto some white card then slid a nestability around over it to get just the right placement before cutting out. I matted all of my pieces with black card for a nice contrast which make all of the colours pop and added some black gems to the butterfly body and antennae.

Good Afternoon!

I have my final installment of my birdcage files as promised, today I have the last birdcage shape along with a Cherry Blossom card with an oriental feel to hang the birdcage from. For those of you without digital cutting machines I have 4 digis for you today, 3 different birdcages on stands and one incorporating the cherry blossom to give you a similar effect to todays card.

I cut my card base in white card and added a layer of patterned paper around the border. I cut my branch in brown card then reduced the size of some of the blossoms to add to the tips of the branches and cut them in pink card. I pressed the middle of each flower blossom into a soft stamp pad (the soft side of a mouse mat would do the trick too) with an embossing stylus to add some shape then stuck down with little dabs of glue. I cut my cage, perch and bird from some pale brown card then shaded the bird and perch with copics to make them stand out poked a hole in the top then threaded and tied it to the branch with some thick cotton. When you stand the card up you get a great effect as the little birdcage spins around in the opening.
